Silsden Youth CIC Committee Meeting
Participate Projects attended February's meeting to talk through how they can help us find professional support and funding opportunities for future projects.
John Terry has joined the committee.
Happy New Year to everyone from Silsden Youth CIC!
We have some great news as we have managed to secure more regular users for 2017:
Weight Watchers - Every Wedesday from 6.30-7.30pm
Horizon Taekwondo - Monday, Friday and Saturday
Gem Compliance Training - First Aid courses in January and February
We would like to welcome our new users to Silsden Youth & Community Centre.
Unfortunately we also had some sad news that Melissa Whitley, Director, resigned due to other commitments. We would like to thank Melissa for her support to set up Silsden Youth CIC, which meant we could keep the Youth Centre open. Melissa will still support us as a volunteer when she can.
Good News - Plans are going well for the Christmas Party on the 10th December, some great volunteers are helping to pull it all together, along with local businesses and the general public - thank you for your support.
We featured in the Keighley News about the official opening of Silsden Youth & Community Centre and the Christmas Party.
Bad News - Unfortunately we were not successful with the Aviva community funding - just not enough votes. But don't despair we will source other funding streams in 2017.
We have applied for some funding for Silsden Youth & Community Centre and we need your votes.
If we are successful we will be able to provide a free creche facility (in the Children's Centre) whilst you get fit at our fitness class (in the Youth & Community Centre). We will also be able to set up a cafe so you can grab a coffee and have a chat with other adults whilst your child is looked after by a fully qualified childminder.
So please help us by clicking on the link below and voting (you can vote up to 10 times!)
Silsden Youth CIC are a group of volunteers and we want to make sure that we keep Silsden Youth & Community Centre open for everyone to use. Please support our campaign.
A daytime meeting was held for our volunteers and we had three more new recruits, Melissa Beckwith, Lucy Lowdes and Trish McLaughlin. Jill Cook attended the meeting to give an overview of what Silsden Youth CIC is about and confirmed that Leanne Caveney was the Volunteer Co-ordinator. An enthusiastic meeting and we look forward to some exciting changes and events in the future organised by our eager volunteers.
We asked for volunteers via Facebook and invited them to attend a meeting on 31st July 2016 at the Youth & Community Centre at 7.30pm. Two lovely volunteers came to the meeting, Lynne Foreshaw and Leanne Caveney. Leanne agreed that she would be the Volunteer Co-ordinator and would set up volunteer meetings during the day for those who were unable to meet in an evening. Leanne would then feedback at the monthly evening meeting.
Keith Moran from Bricks4kids has created 'the best week ever' which is a week of fun & craft for kids aged 5-11. This week they were at Silsden Youth & Community Centre and it was a successful week, the kids had lots of fun and made lots of things including clay models, a minion, football pitches in lego and played outside.
