On 1st April 2016, Silsden Youth Community Interest Company signed a tenancy at will agreement with Bradford Council to take over management of the building known locally as the Youth Centre & the Children’s Centre (Daisy Chain).
The four volunteers who formed Silsden Youth Community Interest Company are Jill Cook, Melissa Whitley, Janet Russell and Yvonne Whiteoak, all Silsden residents with a passion for making sure that this community asset stays open for all of our community to use now and in the future.
We have re-named the Youth Centre to ‘Silsden Youth & Community Centre’ as we have plans to open the facility to the whole of the Silsden community and surrounding areas. The Youth Club will stay open and we have given Bradford Council's Youth Services the venue free of charge every Monday and Thursday so that this service can continue for our young people.
The Children's Centre will remain the same 'Daisy Chain Children's Centre' and the services previously provided, stay & play, health visitors and midwife appointments will continue as before, with a slight shift in days due to cuts made by the council effecting all departments.
The Youth & Community centre is available to hire for parties and events and we will be working with other businesses to arrange various activities over the school holidays, such as sports camps, craft weeks and then at other times, fitness classes, IT skills, health & well-being and the list is growing!
We intend to make sure that this facility is used by everyone and is well maintained and self-sustaining financially in the long term. We do hope that we continue to receive the support from the people of Silsden to help us achieve this goal.
